‘Another Place’ : 10 Years Old Today

‘Another Place’, Antony Gormley‘s fantastic sculpture installation, comprising 100 cast iron figures of himself positioned along 3km of Crosby‘s foreshore and facing out to sea, is 10 years old today. A decade since it was opened to the public, despite some local opposition, which has seen millions flock to see this most creative piece of artwork.

I have visited and photographed it in winter, summer and autumn in the fantastic light conditions you can get along the Mersey estuary. A success story indeed as Gormley’s work has brought lots of visitors’ cash into the local economy. And, it just goes to prove, attractive and imaginary artworks will attract the punters.

So happy birthday, ‘Another Place, in Crosby!! Here is my sunset image comprising two of the cast iron figures with a container ship sailing behind. Enjoy!!
