Comic Characters From The Past

One of the highlights from my visits to Dundee last week, was photographing the ‘Desperate Dan, Gnasher and Minnie The Minx’  sculpture on the High Street – all characters from The Dandy. The long-running children’s comic was published in the United Kingdom by D. C. Thomson & Co. The first issue was printed in December 1937, making it the world’s third-longest running comic. The final printed edition was issued on 4 December 2012, the comic’s 75th anniversary. The comic was brilliant and I posted some shots of the sculpture on FB and received a fantastic response from friends across the UK and as far away as Texas and Chicago in the US. The comic was loved by millions of children from many English speaking nations, and will never be forgotten.
