Happy Autumn Equinox

Happy Autumn Equinox

Well the autumn equinox is back again, it seems no time since the last one. Basically today is the astronomical first day of Autumn, the moment when the sun appears to cross the celestial equator, heading southward. This happened just after 9am this morning.

So we can now look forward to wonderful autumnal colours in our gardens, parks and country places.

I have posted an autumnal shot from the National Arboretum in Gloucestershire, taken a few years back.

‘Equinox’ from Greek, means equal night, when daylight hours and night hours are equal. From today the days get shorter than the night.

Have a great Autumn Equinox.
