Two nights ago I enjoyed a super evening as guest speaker and presenter of prizes to over 40 pupils from ages 5 to 16 at Wakefield Independent School in Yorkshire, UK. This annual school event was absolutely marvellous and a lovely and talented group of children collected their awards then entertained us with singing, dancing and even some poetry. The event was a great example of the school’s warm and welcoming community and its commitment to provide a sound education, and bring out the best in every pupil.
It was my largest audience to date with over 460 pupils, school teachers, parents and relatives filling Wakefield’s beautiful Royal Theatre auditorium. The theatre is a classic design by Frank Matcham who was responsible for a series of stunning auditoria across the UK. Designed in 1893, Wakefield’s grade II* listed Royal Theatre is one of his smallest examples remaining but also one of his best.
The shot above is of me setting up before the audience arrived.
