Perfect Timing Makes An Interesting Shot
‘Wherever there is light, one can photograph’ said Alfred Stieglitz (1864-1946) the great American photographer. This is true, but sometimes you get really lucky when the light, colour and subject matter come together at the same time – perfect timing.
This happened the other day when I was strolling along the shore of the River Mersey. It was a beautiful sunny March afternoon and the gargantuan cranes of Liverpool2, the city’s new post-Panamax dock were reflecting nicely in the river.
Then a man walked along the foreshore into the shot, followed 30 seconds later by a small motor launch.
The colours of the man’s jacket and the boat virtually matched the vivid orange-red of the cranes. A perfect match which made an interesting image. And I promise the colours on the image are original, completely untouched by hand or computer.
What were the chances of that happening?
